art rooted in place
Every piece starts with a place. Sea glass I find along the shore might become a mosaic of that beach. Water collected from the Sound is used to watercolor the view I see. Wildflowers from a trail run get preserved in resin, and leaves I find while hiking get pressed into clay.
Whenever I can, I also make the art right there in the place it came from. I love that instead of just making something inspired by a place, a little piece of that place actually becomes part of the art.
